"Our Path to the responsible production of high-tech metals - facts and challenges of Deep-Sea Mining" is the title of the new brochure of the DeepSea Mining Alliance (DSMA) that was presented at the 6th BDI Raw Materials Congress on 3rd of July 2018 in Berlin.
The brochure details the industry's growing demand for high-tech metals, which are available at the seafloor of large areas of the deep-sea in very good quality and considerable quantities. These key metals will be crucial for e-mobility across the entire transport sector, for all IT technologies, the digitization of the economy and the energy transition, to name but a few. Future commercial deep-sea mining will provide additional secure and reliable supply sources for e.g. Copper, cobalt, nickel, gold, silver and light and heavy rare earths.
The DSMA is a merger of approx. 30 companies of mechanical engineering, maritime technology and scientific-technical service provider. The association is very internationally positioned with well-known members from France, Norway, Belgium, the Netherlands, Poland and Singapore, including the three world-leading classification societies DNV GL, Lloyd's Register and American Bureau of Shipping.
